The test is a cognitive function test that evaluates a test taker's intelligence from multiple perspectives based on the “Full Score IQ (FSIQ),” which represents overall cognitive ability, and “four index scores” for each cognitive domain, to provide an overall picture of intellectual ability as well as abilities in which the test taker excels or struggles. There are two versions of the test: the WAIS for adults over 16 years old and the WISC for children under 16 years old.
一般的にいう「IQ」が測定できる検査ですが、当オフィスではその人が実際に暮らしていく中でどのような困難を抱え、どのように対策をしていけばよいのかを探る手掛かりとして用いることのできる検査であると考え、お一人お一人の現状や悩みに照らし合わせて結果を説明していきます。 自閉症スペクトラム障害などの診断の一つの判断材料として、医療機関や教育領域で最も多く取り入れられている検査でもあります。
Although the test is generally used to measure “IQ,” we believe that it can be used as a clue to find out what kind of difficulties a person has in his/her actual life and how he/she should cope with them, and explain the results in light of each person's current situation and problems. We will explain the results in the context of each individual's current situation and concerns. It is also one of the most widely used tests at medical institutions and in the educational field as one of the factors to determine the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders and other disorders.

Bさんは、就職して1年目の男性です。仕事で上手くできなさを抱え、自分は今の仕事に向いているのか不安になり、得意なこと・苦手なことを知りたいと、WAISの検査を希望されました。
B is a male who has been employed for one year. He had difficulty doing well at work and was concerned about whether he was suited for his current job. He wanted to know what he was good at and what he was not good at, and requested a WAIS examination.

検査前の聞き取りでは、新しい環境でマニュアルにないタスクに臨機応変に対応することが苦手であること、上司の指示に従わずに怒られることや、ケアレスミスをしてしまうことが多いことが挙げられました。 検査の結果、Bさんの全体的な知的能力は平均以上でしたが、能力間に大きなばらつきが見られました。言葉にまつわる能力である「言語理解」指標と、事務的な作業を効率的に迅速に行う「処理速度」指標は非常に高い一方、非言語情報を踏まえて物事の推理を行う「知覚推理」指標、記憶や集中力に関連する「ワーキングメモリー」指標は平均以下という結果でした。
During the pre-test interviews, it was noted that he has difficulty in being resourceful in a new environment and dealing with tasks that are not in the manual, that he often gets angry when not following her supervisor's instructions, and that he often makes careless mistakes. The test results showed that B's overall intellectual ability was above average, but there was a wide variation among his abilities. While his verbal comprehension index, an ability related to language, and his processing speed index, which allows him to perform clerical tasks efficiently and quickly, were very high, his perceptual reasoning index, which allows him to make inferences based on nonverbal information, and his working memory index, which is related to memory and concentration, were below average.

検査結果のフィードバックで、全体を見据え、柔軟に対応をしたり、物事のパターンを見つけて予測を行ったりすることに関連する「知覚推理」能力が低いため、予測ができない状況に苦手さを感じやすく、さらに「ワーキングメモリー」が低いため、聴覚情報を忘れやすく、頭の中で複数の事柄を同時並行で考えることが不得意であること、上司の指示を聞いても忘れてしまうことが多かったことが分かりました。やや不注意傾向があり、普段は全体的な能力が高いためカバーできているが、疲労が大きくなってくるとケアレスミスが多くなってしまう可能性も明らかになりました。 結果を踏まえた対応策として、新規場面での問題解決が難しい時には、Bさんの得意な言語を使って情報を整理したり、できるだけ手順を細分化してから物事を行うことが助けになること、耳から聞いた情報は視覚化しておくことや、負荷がかからない集中できる環境を整えることをお伝えしました。 仕事が上手くいかずに落ち込んでいたBさんでしたが、全体的な能力の高さや、言語に関するスキルなどの自分の強みを知り自信を取り戻すとともに、苦手な能力を得意な能力でカバーする方法を知り、仕事に役立てることができました。
Feedback from the test results showed that the participants had low “perceptual reasoning” ability, which is related to looking at the whole picture, responding flexibly, and finding patterns and making predictions, and that he was easily uncomfortable in unpredictable situations, and that he had low “working memory,” which makes it easy to forget auditory information and to think about multiple things simultaneously in his minds. Furthermore, he has low “working memory,” which makes it difficult for him to think about multiple things at the same time, and he often forgets the instructions of their supervisors. The tendency to be somewhat inattentive, which was usually covered by this overall ability, but the possibility that he would make more careless mistakes when fatigue increased was also revealed. As measures to deal with the results, we told B that when he has difficulty solving problems in new situations, it helps to organize information using his preferred language, to break down procedures as much as possible before doing things, to visualize the information he hears by ear, and to create an environment in which he can concentrate without being overloaded with we told him that he should use his language to help him organize information. B had been depressed because he was not doing well at work, but he was able to regain his confidence by learning about his strengths, such as his overall competence and language-related skills, as well as how to cover up his weak skills with his strong ones.
